First Reformed Church is a community of believers transformed by the magnificent grace of the Resurrected One, Jesus Christ. Rightly oriented through worship, guided by the authority of scripture, and equipped with the gifts of the Spirit, we humbly claim our place within a legacy of His followers. Healed of our own shortcomings and griefs through the power of God’s love, we join an ever-working Savior in His mission of redemption of our time and for all eternity.
First Reformed Church is a member of the Reformed Church in America, a mainline evangelical denomination. We profess the faith expressed in the Apostle’s Creed and affirm the theology of the Heidelberg Catechism among other historic statements of belief.
Every church is different. Each community of believers has a unique history, ministry, and trajectory. So what are distinctives of First Reformed Church?
After several months of prayer and discernment, the leaders and members of FRC adopted for congregational priorities that are motivating us forward to the year 2020. We call them our First Impact Initiatives:
Witness Identity: In the next several years, we will place more persons on mission experiences and empower more members to share their faith than at any time before.
Biblical Literacy: In the next several years, we will deepen and broaden our understanding of the Bible’s content, themes, and interconnections.
Family Ministry: In the next several years, we will celebrate our multigenerationality as we create opportunities for families to worship and serve God together.
Spiritual Vitality: In the next several years, we will grow closer to Christ and each other through transparency, vulnerability, and especially, rediscovery of the Holy Spirit.
