Pastor Josh Van Leeuwen from Westview Reformed Church in Waukee, IA, will be our guest speaker. His message will focus on Matthew 25:14-30 – Jesus’ parable of the talents. This passage invites us to consider what has been entrusted to us (and what we are doing about it).
Chris Godfredson, Classis Leader, will be sharing a message of: in Jesus’s baptism he is both initiated and anointed. The same is true for us…we are initiated in the family of God and anointed for a life of ministry…not big and boisterous (sometimes it might be) but mostly in humble service.
Today is Youth Sunday and Mother’s Day! We’ll hear Scripture and testimonies from some of our high school students and graduating seniors. The theme is “Influencers” – the people who have influenced us, those who influenced the Messiah, and ultimately, how Jesus’ life influences us as we celebrate Holy Communion together.
Witness Day 2017 is here! We’ll hear several presentations from members who went on mission experiences over the past year and will have a time of writing cards to missionaries ourselves. The Northwestern College Praise Team will lead us in singing and worship.
Global Mission Week begins with three speakers representing ministry partners and organizations: Harold VanDer Weide (The Gideons), Lindsey Boulais (International Teams), and Wrede Vogel (The Luke Society).
“The Heartbroken Messiah”, the next phase in our year-long study of Jesus’ life and ministry, continues with a study of the Prodigal Son. Dr. Tom Smith, Ministry Coordinator for the Regional Synod of the Heartland, will be sharing the message.
This Sunday and next, the Year of the Messiah will take a look at the earthly parents that raised Jesus. This week, several special female participants will be helping us paint a picture of Mary.
What does your interaction with Christ look like? What does your level of interaction indicate concerning your personal relationship with Him? Barry Brandt will look at several New Testament passages as we explore these questions.
